Miss Journalism World KENYA 2018/19 (Miss Wendy Omanga): Founder of Glam World

Cultural Heritage center

Hello Glam World fam,

My name is Miss Wendy Omanga. I am a 24 year old Kenyan fashion model, who has recently been crowned as Miss Journalism World Kenya representative, at the international beauty pageant, Miss Journalism World, which took place in Tanzania in December 2018.

I am also the founder to www.glamworld.co.ke whose vision is to be the number one supplier of Bamboo products all over Africa.

I am also a trained Sustainable Development Goals champion, which has formed the foundation of the business model of my social enterprise.

I feel blessed to have been chosen to represent my beautiful and diverse country, Kenya. It has been a life changing experience for me because it has given me unique exposure to international networks: China, Spain, Tanzania, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Malawi, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, France amongst other nationalities.

Miss Journalism World team service was impeccable. It was an all expense paid trip to Tanzania. The boot camp started on 9th December 2018. I was well received by the MJW team at Kilimanjaro international airport in Arusha. From there on, i was taken to Palace hotel Arusha where i met the rest of the Queens.

Cultural Heritage Center

The MJW team took us to various site visits: Tarangire National park, The snake park, Maasai Cultural museum, Kilimanjaro waterfalls, the cultural Heritage center, a children’s home and the Natural History Museum. This exposed me to the almost similar culture the Tanzanians have with Kenya. It was a breath taking experience because Tanzania tourism sector is enormous and beautiful.

The main event happened at Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha. Personally, it was a fun and exciting experience for me to contest during the main event since it was my first ever beauty pageant to contest in.

All in all, the beautiful and talented Miss Ukraine Won. In all this, all Queens went back to their home countries as winners due to the international networks which were made on the Miss Journalism World platform.

I encourage all young female youths in Kenya to make an effort to participate in international beauty pageants such as this one, because you cannot get international exposure in local beauty pageants. I am greatful to all my supporters, and to @2NuBoutique for dressing me all through the competition.

The Maasai Experience

In conclusion, i congratulate Miss Journalism World team for creating an international platform which fosters international relations by bringing the world to Africa.

Be free to give us your thoughts on such upcoming international platforms in Africa. Let’s engage!

Stay tuned.
